Fab or flub? Joico’s humidity blocking spray takes on frizzy hair
Fighting frizz this summer season? If so, this week’s Fab or Flub review is dedicated to you.
Available for $17.99 at Ulta, Joico’s Humidity Blocker Finishing Spray claims to help keep hair looking flawless and frizz-free, even in the face of horrible humidity.
It does so by creating a protective barrier around each strand of hair. As a self-proclaimed expert on the topic of frizzy, imperfect hair, I was excited to put this product to the test against the Texas heat and see just how truthful its claims of a poof-free life were.
First impression
Holding the can eight to 10 inches away from my head, I sprayed Joico’s Humidity Blocker Finishing Spray onto my hair. The first thing I noticed was how extremely lightweight the spray was.
It’s so lightweight, in fact, that I wasn’t sure if any of the spray even made it onto my hair. Since there wasn’t any way to discern how much product I had applied, I decided to use a light hand every time I used it.
Because I do use other hairstyling products, I had worried initially that the addition of another product might weigh down my hair and leave it looking or feeling greasy, but since the formula did not leave any residue behind (it’s practically undetectable), I was relieved this would not be the case.
On the days that I used it, nothing about my hair was sticky, oily or stiff.
Fab or flub?
Fab-ish. I’m happy to report that I was mostly pleased with Joico’s Humidity Blocker Finishing Spray.
By the end of the day, my thick hair was only slightly frizzy — a far cry from how it usually looks on a regular basis. I always style my hair in the morning, but it only takes a couple of hours before it looks nothing like it did when I left the house.
With the help of this product, my hair keeps its style and shape throughout the day, although the frizz isn’t completely gone.
Overall, I’ve enjoyed using the product and recommend adding it to your hair-care arsenal if you find yourself struggling with the effects of humidity.
