Places to go for the week of June 6-12
▪ Celebrate National Trails Day by going on a guided hike at 10 a.m. Saturday at the River Legacy Living Science Center, 703 N.W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington. Participants can choose between a shorter or longer hike. RSVP to 817-860-6752. Other events this week include: River Legacy Nature Day and Bookfair, 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Barnes & Noble at The Parks mall in Arlington, and the sixth annual Sporting Clay Shoot, beginning at 8 a.m. June 12 at the Ellis County Sportsman’s Club in Waxahachie. ▪ Learn about the largest, historical trees in the area at a program called “Heritage Trees of Lake Worth,” with author Wes Culwell (a master arborist) and Corky James, 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. Then, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, learn about grasshoppers, locusts and katydids during a short presentation and hike.
