Watching the Cliburn in Sundance Square
1The final performances of the Cliburn International Piano Competition will happen Saturday and you can enjoy the competition for free at Sundance Square. Jazz on the Trinity
2 Experience live jazz on the Trinity River under the stars Saturday at Panther Island Pavilion with headliner Lalah Hathaway, who will have several supporting acts, including Robert Glasper Experiment and Avery Sunshine. Music in downtown Arlington
3 Arlington will be brimming with live music all weekend. The popular ’70s band Sha Na Na, known for its rock ’n’ roll doo-wop mix performs Friday at the Arlington Music Hall, 224 N. Center St.. Tickets, $18-$115, are still available at arlingtonmusichall.net. Also this weekend is the Downtown Arlington Center Stage Music Festival. Seven venues will offer free music from a variety of artists before and after the Center Stage performances. Two musicals
4 Beginning Tuesday, the Tony-winning “Matilda” —- about a girl with a colorful imagination — takes over Bass Hall. And it has been 25 years since George Strait starred in the film “Pure Country,” and now Irving Lyric Stage has the world premiere of the stage production. Summer movies under the stars
5 Pantego has all the small-town charms, including movie night at the park. This month’s free movie is “Hook,” beginning at dusk Saturday. 6 For the first time ever, Fort Worth will host the A-Kon anime convention, running through Sunday at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Hundreds of anime enthusiasts will converge to see such anime stars as Christopher Sabat, J. North Texas Water Garden Society Tour of Ponds
7 The Tour of Ponds is a two-day self-guided tour of private ponds across Dallas-Fort Worth that begins Saturday. There are more than three dozen stops, and several are on an enchanting night tour that stays open until 11 p.m. $20. ntwgs.org.
Old West Show and Auction
8 If you are on the hunt for rare Western art and wares, head over to the annual Old West Show. The show is open Saturday and Sunday, with a live auction Saturday evening. ‘Some Things You Need To Know Before the World Ends’

‘Something Rotten!’
