Mr. Modem: Let’s play the safe download game
When my grandson comes to visit, he likes to play computer games and always manages to infect my computer with something he downloaded. Is there any site where I can insist that he go to download games so I know they are safe?
If you are justifiably concerned about the dangers of downloading free games and apps from any website, then Botbi.com is the place for you. The huge variety of free games and apps, with secure downloads for each, makes this arguably the biggest and best software download website.
The site’s online database is categorized, rated and reviewed based on a proprietary categorization system and ranked by users as well as by a team of experienced, bleery-eyed editors.
What is the difference between an Add-on and an Add-in — or are they the same thing? Thanks, Mr. M. I don’t know who else I could turn to for answers to stupid questions like this.
Add-on typically refers to a program or feature such as a toolbar or a media player that you can “add on” to your browser to perform additional functions.
Add-in refers to a component such as a graphics card or additional memory that you can install within a computer to enhance its capabilities. Both terms are occasionally (and incorrectly) used interchangeably, though only a card-carrying picker of nits would take issue with that.
I used to be able to click on certain sites I had to log into from Internet Explorer and it took me right into the site. For some reason I can’t do that anymore and I have to sign in each time. I have checked the little box on each site to remember me, but I still have to sign in each time. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
The problem is most likely your settings in Internet Explorer. Depending on the version of IE that you are using, click the little gear in the upper-right corner and choose Internet Options from the drop-down menu. Select the Content tab > AutoComplete > Settings. Make sure you have given Internet Explorer permission to remember passwords and usernames.
Also, click the General tab and verify that you haven’t told Internet Explorer to delete saved passwords on exit. If that item is checked, uncheck it.

Night Sky Panorama at Bonneville Salt Flats
www.worldstart.com/night-sky-panorama-of-the-bonneville-salt-flats
If you’re a city-dweller, you may not have an opportunity to see the billions and billions of stars visible to those who live in more rural areas. This panorama will take a moment to load, but while it’s loading, scroll down and read about the Salt Flats. When the night sky appears, use your mouse to move around the image. Drag up, down, or side to side to view it in its entirety. The panorama at dusk was filmed just one hour prior to the image at night. It is interesting to see what a dramatic difference an hour makes. The stars are faint and the land is silhouetted in an orange glow. It’s eerily awesome!

Pull up a pillow and enjoy a nice, peaceful visit. Aahhhhh ...
