It’s hard to believe that is has been more than 10 years since “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, the former lead guitarist for Pantera, was among four people fatally shot in a Columbus, Ohio, nightclub during a concert by Abbott’s band Damageplan. (A Columbus police officer killed the shooter.)

Abbott, who was from Arlington, died Dec. 8, 2004, and Guitar World’s February 2015 edition is paying tribute to his legacy with a tribute issue. The issue ($9.99) comes with a previously unreleased Abbott home demo on a 7-inch flexi-disc; Abbott plays all the instruments on the 2001 recording, titled Whiskey Road. There’s also a list of Pantera’s 25 greatest songs, and memorials from Pantera producer Terry Date an Anthrax’s Scott Ian.

The tribute also include this video tour of Abbott’s Arlington home, studio and guitar vault, with loads of guitars designed by Abbott himself, and a bathroom with a lot of writing on the wall. We probably don’t have to warn you that there’s some strong language, but we’re doing it anyway.

Also, Guitar World is debuting the title cut to Whiskey Road online. They had it first, but you can listen to it here. Don’t expect thrash, but there are some cool guitar pyrotechnics. If you play, the transcription to the song is included in the link.
