Pinterest fans, this expo in Arlington is made for you

Calling all crafters, fashionistas, cooks, beauty lovers and DIYers — a real-life version of Pinterest is coming to DFW this weekend.

The Pinners Conference & Expo is taking its show on the road for the first time, promising to bring the on-screen Pinterest experience to the Arlington Convention Center.

The conference and expo will bring together some of the bloggers and personalities who are popular on Pinterest for hands-on classes, demonstrations and Q&As. There promises to be something for everyone — make that a few things for everyone — as participants can learn how to build a mail organizer, plan meals for a week, write calligraphy and apply makeup in under five minutes, all in one day.

Event creator Roxanne Bennett, who owns Bennett Events, says she hopes that seeing in-person demonstrations of DIY projects will help reduce “Pinterest fails.” She and her husband hosted the first Pinners Expo in Utah in 2014, and after three successful conventions, they decided to expand and are hosting events in DFW, Phoenix and Atlanta.

“There were consumer shows, wholesale shows and blogger events, but there was nothing that brings those things together,” Bennett says.

The two-day event includes an expo that will host more than 200 businesses selling crafts and goods for babies, weddings or party planning, scrapbooking, and holiday and cooking needs.

And for those who really want to dig in to all things Pinterest, there are classes pre-sorted into categories: Beauty & Fashion, Lifestyle & Learning, DIY & Crafts, Food Arts, Home & Home Decor, Quilting & Sewing, Party Planning, Photography and Health & Fitness.

Presenters include Jen Woodhouse of The House of Wood blog, whose work has been seen in Better Homes & Gardens, Elle Decor and more, and Cara Brook of Maskcara, who was named Allure magazine’s beauty blogger of the year.

Bennett says organizers are expecting 8,000-10,000 people at the event, and she expects everyone to leave inspired.

“People should come and check it out,” Bennett says. “It really will be their most creative weekend ever.”
