Nature-friendly places to go in DFW starting July 30

▪ The beginner’s adult yoga series continues at 10 a.m. July 30 at the River Legacy Living Science Center, 703 N.W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington. Register by calling 817-860-6752. Bring a water bottle and a mat. It’s $5 per person, age 16 and older. riverlegacy.org.

▪ Want to see nature in miniature? Inspect insects, tiny flowers and more with a naturalist, 2-3 p.m. July 30 at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. At 1 and 2 p.m. Aug. 1, learn about the “Awesome Possum” and its many adaptations.

At 8:30 a.m. Aug. 5, join an “Early Birds” hike with a naturalist. Binoculars available.

All these programs are free with paid admission ($2-$5). Friday’s hike requires registration.

▪ Attend a star-gazing party and learn the summer constellations at 8:30 p.m. July 30 at the Bob Jones Nature Center. 355 E. Bob Jones Road, Southlake. It’s $5 per person, and all ages are welcome. Bring chairs, blankets and snacks. To register, call 817-491-6333. bjnc.org.

▪ The Botanical Research Institute of Texas and the city of Fort Worth are selling 55-gallon Upcycle rain barrels, $75, and compost bins, $130, through Sept. 2. Orders: upcycle-products.com/britfw. Pick-up date and place: 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 10 at BRIT, 1700 University Drive, Fort Worth. brit.org.

▪ Get your gardening questions answered with a call to the Tarrant County Master Gardener Association help desk, 817-884-1944. Hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

▪ Johnson County Master Gardeners also answer gardening questions and give advice 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays. Call the Johnson County Extension Office at 817-556-6370 and ask to speak to a master gardener.
