Nature-friendly activities in DFW starting Jan. 23
▪ Join master naturalist Leigh Langford for a family-friendly walk through the Cross Timbers at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Bob Jones Nature Center. It’s $5 per person. At 10 a.m. Saturday, you can join a composting workshop with Charlie Shiner. It’s also $5 per person. 355 E. Bob Jones Road, Southlake. 817-491-6333; bjnc.org.
▪ Adults and kids can learn about Greer Island and the winter waterfowl that make their home there during an easy hike, 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. Bring binoculars. From 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, join a photography hike. Both of these activities are free with admission ($2-$5). ▪ Take the kids to the “Kids Gone Wild” exhibit at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday in the Cattle Arena between Barns 2 and 3. ▪ Preschoolers and caretakers can learn about turtles at River Legacy’s Nature Adventurers class, 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday. It’s $15 per child/adult pair, $5 for an extra child.
