WFAA’s Tiffany Liou, NBC 5’s Samantha Davies depart respective TV stations
A WFAA reporter and NBC 5 meteorologist have both left their respective stations after more than 20 years of combined service.
WFAA-TV’s Tiffany Liou announced in late May that her last day at the Dallas-based station would be on July 1. NBC 5’s (KXAS-TV) Samantha Davies announced on June 30 that she would wrap up her time as one of the station’s meteorologists that week.
Tiffany Liou departs WFAA
Liou joined WFAA in 2018 and worked as a general assignment reporter covering everything from elections and extreme weather to, more recently, the FIFA World Cup’s impact on North Texas.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Liou worked at TV stations in California, Iowa and Louisiana. She came to WFAA from KWTV in Oklahoma City, where she won a Heartland Emmy Award for her reporting on the 8th anniversary of the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
Liou is heading back to the Bay Area and joining KGO-TV, which is the first newsroom she ever worked in. Liou will be the station’s evening South Bay reporter and begins work on July 27.
“I love this team to my core,” Liou wrote on Instagram in a farewell post. “WFAA will always be a part of me.”
Samantha Davies leaves NBC 5
Davies joined NBC 5 in 2009, working as a meteorologist and also covering traffic.
Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Davis became interested in meteorology due to her hometown’s snowy weather. She was also in Florida when Hurricane Andrew wrecked the state back in 1992, furthering deepening her passion for meteorology, according to her NBC 5 author page.
Before she joined NBC 5 in Fort Worth, Davies worked at TV stations in Maryland, Kentucky and Illinois. She has yet to say what’s next for her.
“Thank you to my family for the constant support- the hours were not easy, but you made it possible!” she wrote on Facebook. “This isn’t goodbye, just the end of this chapter.”
