First construction-theme adventure park to open in Grapevine in June

Dig World, a new construction themed adventure park for kids and adults where they can operate full-size construction equipment, is coming to Grapevine this summer.

The 2.5-acre adventure park broke ground on Dec. 8 at the southwest corner of Grapevine Mills Mall, at 2200 West Grapevine Mills Circle. Parking will be available at the mall and guests will walk across the street to Dig World.

Dig World partnered with global construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar, which has its headquarters in Irving. Caterpillar is the title sponsor of the new Grapevine location of Dig World.

“Caterpillar’s sponsorship is a dream come true,” Alex Carroll, co-founder of Dig World, said in a press release. “When kids climb into a Cat machine, they’re not just pretending — they’re experiencing the real thing. Caterpillar helps us deliver an authentic and exciting construction adventure for children of all ages.”

Carroll told the Star-Telegram that while anyone can enter the park, to operate equipment the person has to be at least 36 inches tall to be a lap rider, and can work the skid steer or an excavator.

“So, if you’re a 2- or 3-year-old, and you want to get in your parents lap or guardian’s lap, you can get in there and actually operate the machine,” Carroll said.

Carroll said those 48 inches and taller can operate all the other machinery by themselves. The park will have multiple attractions.

“We have a new attraction that we’re introducing called The Ultimate Dig, and we’ve got Cat 308 big excavators,” Carroll said. “So these are massive machines with massive dig pits, we’ve got a 3-foot bucket on the ends of each one of them, so you’ll be able to dig a lot of dirt with those.”

Dig World is partnering with Dude Perfect, the wildly popular group of five friends who document their adventures and competitive challenges on their Frisco-based YouTube channel.

Along with the Ultimate Dig and Dude Perfect Zone, guests can also get into and work with a scissor lift aerial platform.

Other attractions include the Exca-Putter where they took a Cat 301.5 mini excavator machine and added a putter head where riders can putt on a large green, and a barrel ball game where customers can go up 20 feet high and do basketball trick shots into a custom 12-foot barrel cone.

According to Carroll, general passes are $30. Customers can select a two-hour entry window, and they can stay for as long as they want. Prior to the summer opening, Dig World will be doing ticket giveaways and ticket drops on its social media channels and their email list.

Carroll said Dig World partnered with Simon, the owner of Grapevine Mills Mall, to provide plenty of parking spaces and said he expects on their busiest day to have capacity for 700 to 900 people for two-hour slots.

The first Dig World opened up in Katy in 2022 and has had over 200,000 visitors more than 2,000 birthday parties.

“Overall, the Dig World mission is to inspire kids, create lasting family memories by providing a fun hands-on experience with full-size construction equipment,” Carroll said. “It’s always funny when we tell people what it is, the first reaction is always like are you sure that like you can do that? It’s like yeah, kids and adults.”
