The annual Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival has unveiled its 2016 headliners, and they are supremely funky.
Dr. John and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will head up the Labor Day weekend event, set for Sept. 2-4, across from the Bedford City Hall Complex.
The full music schedule on Sept. 3 and 4 also includes artists like Tommy Castro, Janiva Magness, the Stratoblasters, Jim Suhler & Monkey Beat, the Benoit King Band and many more.
Trombone Shorty is the top act on Saturday, with Dr. John, making his inaugural appearance in Bedford, closing things out on Sunday. In addition to the music, a Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned competition will unfold, with samples available for tasting from 3-5 p.m. Sept. 3 and 4.
Tickets — ranging from $7 for general admission up to $210 for 10 seats at a “party tent table” — are on sale now, via the Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival website. (Admission prices go up at the gate, and will be cash only on-site.)
