You never get a second chance to make a first impression, the old saying goes.

That’s often true, and particularly so for musicians — if the first thing the wider world sees of you or your band is a grainy, poorly lighted JPEG, many may skip right over whatever music you have to offer. (This, of course, doesn’t apply to those arty souls who deliberately make crummy promo art available.)

All that said, local music advocacy group Hear Fort Worth (full disclosure: I sit on the group’s board) is convening a panel discussion Tuesday at the Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge for local musicians to discuss this topic with a trio of area photographers.

The event gets going at 6:30 p.m., and will feature Roman Pena (who, again, in full disclosure, frequently shoots concerts, events and other projects for, Erik Clapp and Lee Schneider.
