Kenny Chesney at AT&T Stadium

As he did last summer, country superstar Kenny Chesney brings his eye-popping, jaw-dropping live show to the biggest stage in North Texas. This time around, Chesney will likely preview a few tunes from his forthcoming LP, Some Town Somewhere, due out in July as the follow-up to 2014’s The Big Revival. If this performance is even half as energetic as Chesney’s 2015 turn inside AT&T Stadium, fans will leave floating on air (or, this being Chesney, feeling as if they’ve sunk their toes deep into a beach). The Tennessee native will be joined by an East Texas native: Miranda Lambert, herself no slouch when it comes to delivering unforgettable concert appearances. A lineup like that is what you call plenty of bang for your buck. With Jake Owen and Old Dominion.

Robert Ellis at Kessler Theater

Part of the joy of watching Houston native Robert Ellis evolve from a rising Americana star into an artist on an altogether different (and, arguably, far more satisfying) trajectory has been how listeners — professional and otherwise — have been mildly confounded by his genre-blind zig-zags from album to album and even song to song. Ellis’ latest, a self-titled collection making its debut just two days before this intimate Dallas date, will only serve to further mystify those expecting last-call ballads or pedal steel-laced weepers. Ellis, a restless musical omnivore, embraces pop in a way he hasn’t on record to date — the results are wonderfully intoxicating (How I Love You) or viciously revealing (Elephant), as circumstances dictate.
