Kickstarter Film Festival coming to North Texas
North Texas is getting another film fest but this one has a twist: it’s free.
The Kickstarter Film Festival, a single-evening round-up of several films funded through the crowdfunding site, will play at Dallas’ Texas Theatre Oct. 15. This is just one of 32 markets in which the festival will take place on the same day.
Films set to show are: the mock-doc What We Do In the Shadows, starring Jemaine Clement (of Flight of the Conchords), about a group of vampires sharing a house; T-Rex, a documentary profiling the first teenage girl to go for boxing gold at the Olympics; the short Afronauts, chronicling a group of Zambians who try to beat the U.S. to the moon; and the animated shorts World of Tomorrow (about a girl who is visited by her clone from the future) and Submarine Sandwich (about exactly what it sounds like).
While there is no admission, those who want to go need to RSVP to the theater they plan to attend at filmfest.kickstarter.com. Screenings begin at 7 p.m.
The Texas Theatre is located at 231 W. Jefferson Blvd. Other Texas cities taking part are Houston and Austin.
