Radio station WRR 101.1 FM will retain its classical music format, according to the city of Dallas, despite claims from the Friends of WRR.

The city’s Office of Arts and Culture is seeking a nonprofit organization to oversee the operation and management of the station. The city would retain ownership and the format remain classical, according an announcement from the office in July, in which it said the station had operated at a deficit for eight consecutive years.

A post at friendsofwrr.org says the city’s decision “puts this treasured asset at risk” and asks those interested in the station to sign up for its newsletter.
