Philanthropist Anne Hendricks Bass, contributor to Fort Worth arts world, dies at 78
Philanthropist Anne Hendricks Bass, a significant contributor to the Fort Worth arts world, has died at 78.
Bass died Wednesday in New York, according to a notice published in the New York Times. The cause was not reported. She was born in Indianapolis and was married to Fort Worth philanthropist Sid Bass for more than 20 years.
Anne Hendricks Bass was a graduate of Vassar College.
Bass designed gardens in Connecticut and on Nevis, according to a Town & County Magazine remembrance.
“Houses don’t mean what they used to, but for the people who care about these things, her taste in architecture and interiors was profoundly admired. She had a real voice, and the Fort Worth house she built with Paul Rudolph in 1970 and her New York apartment at 960 Fifth Avenue are unique, disciplined, timeless, and important.”
Bass is survived by daughters Hyatt and Samantha and her partner, Julian Lethbridge.
A memorial service had not been scheduled Thursday.
