Let’s go see some dinosaurs

If you’re in Texas and want to learn more about dinosaurs, here are some places you can go where, unlike Jurassic World, you don’t have to worry about the animals coming to life and attacking you:

Fort Worth Museum of Science and History: The facility’s interactive DinoLabs and DinoDig features dinosaur skeletons and a replica of a dig site. 1600 Gendy St., Fort Worth. 817-255-9300; www.fwmuseum.org

Giants of the Jurassic: The latest exhibit at the Dallas Zoo features more than 20 animatronic dinosaurs, a DinoSOAR wildlife show, and Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live, a tour of prehistoric Australia. Through Sept. 7. 650 S. R.L. Thornton Fwy., Dallas; 469 554-7500; www.dallaszoo.com

Perot Museum of Nature and Science: This museum’s T. Boone Pickens Life Then and Now Hall features a huge dinosaur skeleton. The Hoglund Foundation Theater is showing Walking With Dinosaurs: Prehistoric Planet 3D. 2201 N. Field St., Dallas; 214-428-5555; www.perotmuseum.org

Heard Museum: The Dinosaurs Live! exhibit is closed but will reopen Sept. 19 with its 46-foot T rex and eight other full-size animatronic dinos. 1 Nature Place, McKinney. 972-562-5566; http://www.heardmuseum.org/dinosaurslive

The Dinosaur Park: Life-size dinosaur replicas dot this outdoor museum. These include an 85-foot long brachiosaurus. 893 Union Chapel Road, Cedar Creek. 512-321-6262; www.thedinopark.com
