Fox, HBO pilots are shooting around North Texas
If you’ve stumbled across film crews in your travels around DFW, you might have run into two pilots that are filming here this month.
One is a modern update on Frankenstein for Fox, produced by Howard Gordon (24, Tyrant, Homeland) and starring Adhir Kalyan (Rules of Engagement), an Internet billionaire who is responsible creating a new-generation man. The other is HBO’s Mamma Dallas, created by comic writer/actor Mike White (School of Rock, Chuck & Buck, Enlightened), which revolves around a family who hires a drag queen to be their nanny. Augustus Prew (Kick Ass 2) stars.
According to locationshub.com, both projects began shooting in March. It’s not clear yet whether, if the shows do get picked up, if they’ll continue to shoot in North Texas.
On the reality show side, Bravo announced earlier this week that it will be airing the Real Housewives-like Ladies of Dallas later this year.
So, if you go outside and see cameras, smile. It’s not just your neighbor with a smart phone.
