Apple TV Smash Hit Series Just Got a Coveted Stephen King Rave Endorsement

Apple TV is no stranger to a hit series. The streaming service is the behemoth behind fan and critic favorites like Severance, The Morning Show, and Ted Lasso. And now they have another hit series on their hands with x-episode horror comedy, Widow's Bay.

Widow's Bay has been called "an absolute blast, rich and wonderful" and "grownup, funny, scary, [and] true." by The Guardian since its release on April, 29th, 2026. Now, the show just received potentially the highest honor in horror: A rave endorsement from horror legend, Stephen King.

King took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to gush about his love for the show.

However, King isn't the only king of the horror genre to sing praises for Widow's Bay.

Hideo Kojima, the iconic game designer behind the likes of Death Stranding, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear took to social media as well once he binged the show. And who recommended it to him?

Just three-time Academy Award winning filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro, casually.

Widow's Bay takes place on the fictional titular island in New England. The series follow Mayor Tom Loftis (played by Matthew Rhys) who is trying to change the narrative of the town and paint it as "the next Martha's Vineyard" and make it a tourist destination. However, his efforts are stifled by the town's lore and a pact made with a demonic entity long ago, which plagues the island with evils and a curse that befalls all of the residents born on the island.

Ahead of the series finale, which released on Tuesday, June 17th 2026, Apple TV renewed Widow's Bay for a second season.

The full series of Widow's Bay is streaming now, exclusively on Apple TV.
