Beloved 2000s Rock Band Makes Long-Awaited Return With First New Music in Years
Breaking Benjamin made their triumphant return to music with a haunting new single that catapults the iconic 2000s rock band into a new era.
On May 13, the Pennsylvania rockers released "Something Wicked," a bold and punchy track that finds the band pushing deeper into their darker sonic territory while undoubtedly channeling the sound that has defined them for years.
This past weekend, the five-piece debuted the new track during their set at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Fla.
"'Something Wicked' is a quick look into our influences both musically and thematically. We challenged ourselves especially hard on this record and on this song," explained singer Benjamin Burnley. "We pushed every boundary we've previously had as far as it will go, then pushed a little more. 'Something Wicked' was the result."
Fans have been loving the song, with many comparing it to the sound of their 2002 debut studio album, Saturate.
"This brings me straight back to the Saturate era," one fan wrote in an Instagram comment. "Old school Breaking Benjamin is BACK!"
"This is incredible!! You can hear a beautiful mix of the bands roots with their early stuff and the past couple albums combined," another said. "It's so good."
The song is Breaking Benjamin's first release since 2024's "Awaken," which marked the group's return to music after five years. "Awaken" saw a lot of commercial success, climbing to No. 1 on the BillboardAlternative Digital Song Sales chart and earning a spot in the Top 20 on several acclaimed charts, including the Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. Since its release, "Awaken" has been streamed over 117 million times.
Kicking off in fall 2026, the band will embark on a mammoth month-long tour across North America. The tour opens in Camden, New Jersey, at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Sept. 2, and will see shows almost every day in major cities across the United States and Canada. The tour concludes on Oct. 24 in Bristow, Virginia.
