Mike Vrabel Gets Standing Ovation From Patriots Fans Amid Scandal

Mike Vrabel may be facing intense scrutiny off the field, but inside New England Patriots territory, support appears strong.

During a recent season-ticket holder event at Gillette Stadium, the Pats head coach was met with quite the warm reception. Videos on social media show fans packed into the atrium applauding the coach - and even gave him a standing ovation when he was introduced - despite the ongoing controversy surrounding his marriage.

The situation at hand involves Vrabel, 50, and former The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini. Earlier this month, photos surfaced allegedly showing the two holding hands and at a luxury resort in Arizona. Additional images later circulated that reportedly dated back to 2020 of the two kissing at a bar. Both Vrabel and Russini, 43, are married to other people.

While the story continues to spread, the league has so far opted not to take action. Commissioner Roger Goodell has said that nothing reviewed to date violates the NFL's Conduct Policy, leaving the matter in the hands of the Patriots organization.

And internally, the message has remained consistent: stay focused on football.

Two Patriots veterans took that stance during media availability this week. Linebacker Robert Spillane said, "Coach coaches football and he keeps the main thing, the main thing. I know he's dealing with personal issues, but when we're in the building, we speak football."

Tight end Hunter Henry agreed. "Obviously, I know you guys want to hear about everything that's going on," Henry said. "To be honest with you, I'm focused on what we got going on right now in this building, with this team."

As for Vrabel, he's continued to coach and participate in team events following a brief absence during the NFL Draft, opting to spend time with his family after the news of him and Russini broke.
