‘We’ve tried a few times’: Texas singer Cody Johnson says about being in ‘Yellowstone’
Texas singer Cody Johnson is known for a cowboy persona that almost nabbed him a role on “Yellowstone.”
Johnson, who is from Sebastopol, said that he and “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan have talked before about the singer appearing on the Paramount Network series. But the timing hasn’t worked out just yet.
“We’ve tried a few times, and my schedule is too busy to actually put aside the time,” Johnson told The Rob + Holly Show. “There’s a few movie things that I’m like, ‘Look, if y’all give me the notice, I can make this happen’.”
Johnson didn’t discuss what other film and television projects he’s been circling. However, if he did appear on “Yellowstone,” there’s already a precedence set.
Singer and songwriter Ryan Bingham has appeared in over 30 episodes of “Yellowstone” since the show began in 2018. Eight of Bingham’s songs have also been featured on the show’s soundtrack.
Country star Lainey Wilson joined “Yellowstone” in its fifth season and appeared in four episodes. Four of her songs have been featured on the show.
Johnson himself had a song featured on “Yellowstone” in season 4, episode 9. But time is running out for the Texan to pop up in Montana.
“Yellowstone” returns with its final episodes on Nov. 10 via the Paramount Network. A majority of the cast is coming back for the end, minus series star Kevin Costner, who was tied up with his Western film epic — “Horizon: An American Saga.”
