Creed’s new tour includes 3 Texas dates. Was band’s revival sparked by Rangers playoff run?

Rockers Creed found a sliver of cultural renaissance when the Texas Rangers found inspiration in their songs, helping lift the club to the World Series. They are now embarking on a new tour next year.

The band’s “Summer of ‘99 tour” was announced Monday and includes three Texas stops in 2024. Dallas is up first on Sept. 11, San Antonio on Sept. 13 and The Woodlands on Sept. 14.

Presale tickets are available now and general admission passes go live at 10 a.m. Friday. Visit Live Nation to purchase tickets here.

Creed is bringing a few friends to select cities on their countrywide tour including 3 Doors Down, Daughtry, Switchfoot, Tonic, Big Wreck and Finger Eleven. For all three Texas shows, 3 Doors Down and Finger Eleven will join Creed.

To celebrate the new tour, here’s the announcement the band released.

Creed has been around since the mid-’90s, releasing their debut album in 1997 titled “My Own Prison.”

The band grew to popularity in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s with songs such as “Higher” and “With Arms Wide Open.” Ever since the band has had its share of ups and downs.

Creed would disband in 2004, reunite in 2009 for a new album, go on hiatus in 2013 and eventually come together again in summer 2023 for a tour set on a cruise ship.

But Creed received their biggest cultural shot-in-the-arm earlier this month.

Rangers pitcher Andrew Heaney revealed that during the team’s second half slump, they turned to Creed for inspiration and blasted the band’s music throughout the clubhouse.

The news blew up online and Creed’s “Higher” became the Rangers unofficial theme song, played in-between breaks on the television broadcast and at Globe Life Field during home games.

Creed even showed up in Arlington for game 3 of the American League Championship Series, where they cheered on the Rangers against the Houston Astros.

As the Rangers continue play in the World Series, a Creed song playing over some portion of the broadcast is a sure bet.

However, the Rangers aren’t the first North Texas sports team to embrace Creed.

Creed played the halftime show for the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game in November 2001. For many Creed fans, the performance was among their favorite memories of the band.
