Pearl Jam will perform in Fort Worth for the first time ever this September
Over the course of the band’s decades of touring, Seattle grunge rockers Pearl Jam have performed in Denton, Dallas, Austin and Houston, but never in Fort Worth.
Until now.
Pearl Jam is coming to Fort Worth this September for two days at Dickies Arena, the band announced Thursday. The dates are a part of a two-month, nine-show North America tour that will also include stops in St. Paul, Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin.
Eddie Vedder and Co. will play Dickies Sept. 13 and Sept. 15. An opening act for the Fort Worth shows will be announced soon, Dickies wrote in a news release.
Members of the Ten Club, Pearl Jam’s Fan Club, will have access to exclusive pre-sale tickets starting Thursday. Public tickets will only be sold through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan Registration starting on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. Fans can register for Verified fan here until Tuesday, April 25 at 5 pm PT.
The band will use “all-in” pricing for the first time on this tour, according to its website. This means the ticket price listed is the same price you’ll pay at checkout, fees and all. Pearl Jam famously fought Ticketmaster in the ‘90s over the company’s dominance in the concert industry. (The more things change, the more they stay the same.)
The last time the grunge icons played in North Texas was in 2013 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, on tour for their “Lightning Bolt” album. The band also has a lot of North Texas ties. One of the band’s drummers in the ‘90s, Dave Abbruzzese, is from Mesquite. “Jeremy,” a harrowing song about a young boy who killed himself in front of his classmates, is based on a tragic story at Richardson High School in 1991.
Pearl Jam is coming off of a recent world tour in support of their latest album, “Gigaton.” The album was released right at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and the initial tour had to be postponed.
