The Golden Globes were Tuesday but one award winner wasn’t able to make it thanks to mother nature.

‘Yellowstone’ actor Kevin Costner won the Golden Globe for best actor in a television drama series, the western drama’s first Golden Globe win.

Costner, who plays family patriarch John Dutton, was unable to accept his award Tuesday night due to severe flooding in Santa Barbara, California.

Actress Regina Hall, who accepted Costner’s award in his place, struggled to suppress her laughs as she mentioned his absence, reading from a script.

“[Costner] so much wanted to be here, but because of the—it’s been raining—the unprecedented weather and flooding, he has to shelter in place in Santa Barbara, Jesus,” Hall said giggling. “No this, this is a sad story right now. He’s stuck in Santa Barbara, let’s pray everyone.”

Costner apologized for his absence Tuesday evening in a video message posted to his social media accounts.

In the video, Costner said he and his family were not able to make it back to their home after pulling his kids out from school due to flooding on the highways.

A storm that began Monday has led to heavy rains, lightning, hail and landslides in Southern California with millions of residents under flood warnings and over 110,000 homes and businesses without power, according to the Associated Press.

“Nobody’s sadder than us that we can’t be there at the Golden Globes,” he said. “[Christine Baumgartner] had a beautiful dress, I was looking forward to walking down the red carpet with her.”

Costner said he got gold, yellow, black and silver balloons to watch the award show from his home.
