Kelly Clarkson, Maren Morris among 10 Texans nominated for 2023 Grammy Awards

The 2023 Grammy Awards nominations are out and several North Texans are on the short list, including Kelly Clarkson and Maren Morris.

Next year’s show is the 65th Grammy Awards and will be hosted at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Feb. 5, 2023. The awards show will broadcast on CBS and will stream live on Paramount Plus.

In total, 10 Texas artists were recognized:

  • Kelly Clarkson, Fort Worth — Best traditional pop vocal album (“When Christmas Comes Around”).

  • Kirk Franklin, Fort Worth- Best gospel performance/song (“Kingdom”), best contemporary christian music performance/song (“Fear Is Not My Future”) and best gospel album (“One Deluxe”).

  • Maren Morris, Arlington — Best country album (“Humble Quest”), best country song and best country solo performance (“Circles Around This Town”).
  • Pentatonix, Arlington — Best traditional pop vocal album (“Evergreen”).

  • Beyonce, Houston — Album of the year (“Renaissance”), record of the year, song of the year, best dance/electronic recording (“Break My Soul”), best dance/electronic music album (“Renaissance”), best R&B performance (“Virgo’s Groove”), best traditional R&B performance (“Plastic of the Sofa”), best R&B song (“Cuff It”) and best song written for visual media (“Be Alive”).

  • Miranda Lambert, Longview — Best country solo performance (“In His Arms”), best country duo/group performance (“Outrunnin’ Your Memory”), best country song (“If I Was A Cowboy”) and best country album (“Palomino”).
  • Spoon, Austin — Best rock album (“Lucifer on the Sofa”).
  • Willie Nelson, Abbott — Best country solo performance (“Live Forever”), best country song (“I’ll Love You Till The Day I Die”), best country album (“A Beautiful Time”) and best roots gospel album (“The Willie Nelson Family”).
  • Cody Johnson, Sebastopol — Best country song (“’Til You Can’t”).
  • Jamie Foxx, Terrell — Best audio book, narration and storytelling recording (“Act Like You Got Some Sense”).
