USAF Thunderbirds air show is Oct. 22 at AllianceTexas Aviation Expo in Fort Worth

It’s a bird, it’s a plane ... it’s the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds back in Fort Worth?

The high-flying Thunderbirds will soar above Alliance Airport on Oct. 22 for the AllianceTexas Aviation Expo. In addition to air shows, the public can tour several aircraft on display.

The Thunderbirds team is made up of pilots who participate in aerial aerobatic shows across the country. Strapped into F-16 jets, the Thunderbirds cruise the skies doing flips and twists to the entertain the crowds below.

The event began in 1991 as the Fort Worth International Air Show, produced by the Aviation Heritage Association. In 2005, the city of Fort Worth linked up with Alliance Air Services to host, according to organizers.

Since then, the Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show has taken place every year, including a couple of modified pandemic shows in 2020 and 2021. Now it is called the AllianceTexas Aviation Expo.

Below is everything you need to know about the one-day aviation event.

Ticket prices for AllianceTexas Aviation Expo

To attend the AllianceTexas Aviation Expo, it will set you back $125 per ticket. Your tickets must be purchased online.

The “Captain’s Club” individual ticket for $125 includes a buffet lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and complimentary beer, wine and soda. Children 5 and under get in free.

Parking passes are also required and cost $79 per vehicle.

Air shows and the expo

There’s three big things to do at the air show next weekend.

  • Flight Line, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Patrons can tour aircraft displays, shop from exhibitors, eat at food concessions and visit the gift shop.
  • Landing Zone, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Explore interactive and educational exhibits, along with a kids area and activities.
  • Aerial Acts, 4 to 5:30 p.m.: Several aerial acts will soar across the sky performing tricks and flips. A full schedule is below.

Kicking off the aerial acts, the RE/MAX Skydiving team will host a national anthem flag presentation. After that, there’s a Bell 505 helicopter fly-by and then a demonstration from the F-22 Raptor Team.

Finally, the Thunderbirds will perform several aerial maneuvers and tricks.

The gift shops at the Landing Zone and Flight Line will have T-shirts, sunglasses, model planes and more.

Air show parking, and where to go

The parking lots at Alliance Airport, 2221 Alliance Blvd., open at 9 a.m. and will close to inbound traffic at 1:30 p.m. Parking passes per vehicle are required to attend the event.
