Share a night of peace at Bass Hall as Ukrainian ballet company comes to Fort Worth
Celebrate dance and world peace when Fort Worth welcomes the Kyiv City Ballet for a special performance Monday, Oct. 3 at Bass Performance Hall.
Performing Arts Fort Worth and the Texas Ballet Theater has partnered with the Ukrainian ballet company for “A Tribute to Peace,” its only performance in Texas as part of its United States tour.
The day before Ukraine was invaded in February, the Kyiv City Ballet took one of the last flights out of the city to begin a long-planned tour in Paris, according to a release from the company.
France sheltered the ballet company through the spring as the war escalated in Ukraine. Kyiv City Ballet performed throughout France and later throughout Europe before launching its U.S. tour Sept. 16 in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Ticket sales help keep the company on the road and sheltered while it awaits a safe return to the homeland.
The Bass Hall performance will feature excerpts from the classical ballets “Don Quixote,” “La Bayadere” and “Paquita pas de deux,” and “Men of Kyiv,” a Ukrainian folk dance. Texas Ballet Theater will also perform a mixed repertory program.
“We are honored to share the beauty of ballet with U.S. audiences, through Ukrainian artists,” artistic director Ivan Kozlov said in a release. “Touring the States for the first time with a range of ballets makes an important global statement. It demonstrates the resilience of the Ukrainian people.”
Tickets start at $38. Go to basshall.com for more information.
