Check out the amazing acrobatics when Cirque du Soleil rolls into Fort Worth for a four-day run of its “Ovo” production at Dickies Arena, Sept. 22-25.
Ovo, which means “egg” in Portugese, features high-flying performers who portray the joyful world of insects such as ants, butterflies, spiders, ladybugs and crickets.
The family-friendly show is designed to highlight the movement of life, with creatures flying, leaping and crawling.
Acrobatic feats include foot juggling, dancing, contortion and slackwire. The signature final act combines trampoline stunts, tumbling and rock climbing.
The touring circus production, which premiered in Montreal in 2009, is the 25th of the Cirque empire and was created to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Dickies promises to be spinning with energy during Ovo’s performances, which include two shows on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Fort Worth Oktoberfest comes to Trinity Park
Kick off fall in style and celebrate German culture during Fort Worth’s Oktoberfest, Sept. 22-24 at Trinity Park.
The three-day festival of German food, beer and entertainment includes live music, shopping, carnival rides, stein hoisting and more.
The event also features a 20-mile urban bike ride along with 10K and 5K runs starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. Cyclists will enjoy scenic views of downtown, Magnolia Avenue, the Trinity River and a beer stop along the way.
Participants in the “Run und Ride” will receive an Oktoberfest beer stein, a free three-day pass to the Oktoberfest festival and some swag. Dressing in lederhosen is recommended.
The festival opens Thursday at 5 p.m. with live polka music as as the Grammy-nominated Alex Meixner Band and Walburg Boys take the stage.
The customary “Tapping of the Kegs” follows at 7:30 p.m.
More polka bands will be featured Friday and Saturday, including Chardon Polka Band, Ginny Mac, Mike and the Middletones and Nick Ballarini.
Plenty of traditional German fare will be available, including bratwurst, schnitzel, German potato pancakes, Putenkeule (turkey leg), Schweinekotelett (pork chop), Bavarian soft pretzels and German skillet potatoes.
You can wash it down with Spaten and other Oktoberfest craft beers on tap throughout the festival grounds.
Festival tickets are $10 Thursday and $15 Friday and Saturday, but you can purchase a three-day pass for $20. Children 12 and younger are free.
All online tickets sold by Wednesday, Sept. 21 will come with a free commemorative 2022 stein.

Fort Worth ISD holds annual ‘College Night’
Time to start thinking about those college plans?
Students and parents are encouraged to attend the Fort Worth school district’s annual “College Night,” Monday, Sept. 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Amon Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall, Texas Room, 3400 Burnett-Tandy Drive.
Recruiters and admission officers from colleges, universities, trade schools, technical schools and the military will be on hand to provide important information and networking opportunities.
Students can learn about financing a college education, scholarships in Tarrant County, the college admission process and more. Interpreters will be available to support Spanish-speaking families.
Parking at Amon Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall is $10, but free parking is available at Farrington Field where a ride shuttle to the event will be provided.
