The 13-time Grammy-winning country trio The Chicks is coming to North Texas in October, the band announced on social media Tuesday.

They’ll be performing at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11, with tickets going on sale Friday. They’ll be joined by Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Patty Griffin.

Tickets will be available for purchase at 10 a.m. Friday at thechicks.com/tour.

The group, which has had multiple diamond-selling releases, dropped the word “Dixie” from their name in 2020, causing backlash from some fans on social media who have called the move a political correctness-motivated misstep.

A statement on The Chicks’ website at the time said, “We want to meet this moment.”

The term “Dixie” is often used in reference to Confederate states.
