Whiskey Cake restaurant has permit to open in Alliance Town Center, north Fort Worth

Whiskey Cake, the comfort-food restaurant that brings quirky spirit to the suburbs, will open its first Tarrant County restaurant in Alliance Town Center, according to a city permit.

The restaurant at 3001 Amador Drive would be the 11th for Dallas-based Whiskey Cake. It has not been announced and is not yet listed on the company website at whiskeycake.com.

Dallas-based Whiskey Cake was launched in Plano by FB Society, the same company that founded Velvet Taco. It now operates more than 12 other area restaurant and bar concepts.

The Amador Drive location is near the new Firebirds Wood Fired Grill and a forthcoming PF Chang’s.

The Star-Telegram’s review of the original Whiskey Cafe in Plano described the decor as “rustic-meets-industrial with a dollop of whimsy — woods and exposed brick mix with the occasional damask tablecloth, fresh flowers pop out of bud vases made from light bulbs, and lug nuts double for napkin rings.

“It’s as if you’ve been transported inside the most awesomely funky whiskey barrel ever.”

The review described the namesake whiskey cake as a toffee torte served in Booker’s whiskey crème anglaise, surrounded by spiced pecans and whipped cream.
