Does your baby need some yoga? Fort Worth is getting a new yoga studio for children

Fort Worth has a lot of things, but you know what it doesn’t have? A children’s yoga studio.

But it soon will get one. Nanda Yoga, a yoga studio for children 6 weeks to 18 years old, is currently under construction in the Culture District at 3608 Pershing Ave. inside Shop Small’s The Collective.

The studio will offer 25 classes per week, with four sessions split up by age group. The first is for babies 6 weeks to 10 months old. The second is for toddlers 1 to 5 years old. The third is for grade schoolers ages 6 to 12 and the last is for teens 13 to 18 years old.

Nanda Yoga was founded by Fort Worth native Kate Garret Murphy and started as a pop-up at different events and community gatherings in 2018. In the fall of this year, the business plan for Nanda Yoga was a top 10 finalist in the Fort Worth Business Plan Competition.

“Bringing a dedicated children’s yoga studio to Fort Worth has been a lifelong dream of mine,” said Murphy in a statement. “Nanday Yoga will be a place where families and children can build strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness through playful yoga poses, games, stories, mindfulness, art, music and sensory activities, all in a non-competitive, inclusive and positive environment.”

Nanda Yoga will open in February.
