11th annual Lone Star Film Festival

1 The big names at this year’s film fest are actress Cybill Shepherd, who will receive the Bill Paxton Achievement in Film award, and the late Paxton himself, who will get a special tribute. Shepherd will be honored at the festival ball at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at Bass Hall. On Nov. 9, the films and documentaries start rolling, with the short films in blocks by theme. Panels start Nov. 10. The fest ends Nov. 12. Venues are in downtown Fort Worth, mostly the AMC Palace Theater and Four Day Weekend Theater. Dale’s Last Ride at TMS

2 NASCAR fans will get their pick of races: the JAG Metals 350 on Friday, the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 on Saturday and the big one, the AAA Texas 500, on Sunday. Sunday’s race is the eighth in the playoffs for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, and it will be driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s final race, so it will be bittersweet. Bazaar at the Bend

3 Your holiday gifts aren’t going to buy themselves, you know. This vendor market organized by Fort Worth Makers in the city’s WestBend area, near I-30 and University Drive, promises live music, gift workshops, styling sessions and charity gift wrapping, as well as the shopping. ‘Evita’ at Casa Mañana

4 It’s a story that has it all: wealth, power, beauty. Once upon a time, it even had Madonna (in the film version). The classic Broadway musical about a former first lady of Argentina, from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, kicks off Casa’s Broadway season, starting Saturday. It runs through Nov. 12. Tracy Lawrence benefit performance

5 The country singer releases his new album, “Good Ole Days,” a team effort of collaborations with singers such as Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Kellie Pickler, Big & Rich and more, on Nov. 10. North Texas Beer Week events

6 Beer Week overflows with events such as the Pintwood Derby With Deschutes. 8 Seattle singer-songwriter Noah Gundersen’s tonal shift on his latest album, “White Noise,” has taken his fans by pleasant surprise. “It’s like Ryan Adams and the Gaslight Anthem made a baby,” one YouTuber wrote. Otsukimi Moon Viewing Festival

9 Bad weather canceled this event last month in Clyde Warren Park, but it’s back 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday. The event, a partnership between the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth and the Crow Collection of Asian Art, celebrates the arrival of the autumn moon. Fall Festival at Live Oak Winery

10 Halloweeen on Tuesday night might have made the kids feel a bit cheated. Keep the party going with this family-friendly event at a small winery just south of Fort Worth. The fest, which will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, will have kids games such as bobbing for apples, a ring toss and giant Jenga.
