Because of the Google machine, Hollywood has given up on the erotic genre that once had established a nice niche in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
Movies such as 9 1/2 Weeks, and a host of other bad Mickey Rourke flicks, once littered VHS movie rental stores (remember those?). Now, film goers are numb to those once sultry X-rated images, and that entire genre was murdered by online porn.
Thanks, however, to the absurdly popular book Fifty Shades of Grey, Hollywood is going Throwback Thursday on us with the theatrical version. Featuring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, the movie has been hyped for the sex, kinky six and S&M sex. That’s it.
The end result is a big-budget flick with clunky dialogue, characters that lack chemistry, with a few steamy scenes. This is not porn. This is an ‘80s erotic movie, only worse. Click here for Star-Telegram Cary Darling’s review.

As part of my widening video series, I traveled to Dallas to see the film, and talk to some of the movie goers for their reaction.
