For decades scientists have tried to answer the question - can a middle aged white guy play fastpitch girls softball*?

Thanks to the Dallas Charge of the National Pro Fastpitch Softball league and 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, these two giants and myself joined forces to answer this problem.

Along with myself and members of 105.3 The Fan, the Charge agreed to play a two-inning exhibition after its regular season-ending home game against the hated Chicago Bandits on Aug. 11, 2015.

The rules:

* The Charge pitchers pitched as you might expect: Underhand with lethal speed.

* The Fan pitcher Shan Shariff pitched slow-pitch, with lethal results.

I played second base, and what happened will both amaze and inspire you.

Btw - The Charge will play the USSSA Pride in the playoffs that begin Aug. 14 in Hoover, Alabama. The Charge will be facing former University of Texas All-American Cat Osterman, who is 14-2 with a 1.35 ERA this season. Have fun with that.

* No scientist has pondered this question.
