Falcon Lake produced its ninth ShareLunker bass Sunday when Brandon Smith of Leander landed a 14.25-pound fish while fishing in seven feet of water with a plastic worm.
Smith’s bass was 25.5 inches long and had a 21.5-inch girth. The bass is the second-largest of 13 bass entered this year in the ShareLunker program. The program uses trophy bass for genetic studies and spawning purposes at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens.
The largest ShareLunker bass from Falcon is a 14.28-pounder caught in 2004. The lake record is a 15.12-pounder caught in 1991.
