Housewives star LeeAnne Locken will judge Kentucky Derby hats at Lone Star Park

A hat is more than hat when the Kentucky Derby is involved.

As traditional as the race, Lone Star Park’s annual Kentucky Derby Best Hat Contest will be held in conjunction with the race on Saturday.

The 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby, the first leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown, will be Saturday at approximately 5:34 p.m. at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

In Grand Prairie, Real Housewives of Dallas reality show star LeeAnne Locken will be one of three judges for the hat contest. KVIL personality Leigh Ann Adam and America’s Sassiest Lifestyle Guru Steve Kemble are also set to be judges.

The judging will be held at 3 p.m. in the Courtyard of Champions. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Two prizes of $500 each will be awarded, one for the most stylish and the other for the most creative.

Gates open 11 a.m. First live race will begins at 2:05 p.m. Simulcast of the Kentucky Derby is at 5:34 p.m.
