Vallis Wilder of Fort Worth helped the United States to the Austria Cup (55-over) championship at the International Tennis Federation’s Senior World Team Championships last week in La Baule, France.
Wilder, a veteran of international competition, along with doubles partner Mike Tammen of Portland, Ore., led the U.S. to a 2-1 victory over Spain in the finals in the highest-ranked event on the ITF Seniors Circuit for male and female players ages 50-60.
The American men had been runners-up for the Austria Cup the past three years. Both Wilder and Tammen are former world doubles champions, but with other partners. Wilder helped lead the U.S. to the Fred Perry Cup (50-over) in 2010 and the Dubler Cup (45-over) in 2004.
The U.S. also won the Maria Esther Bueno Cup (women’s 50) and Alice Marble Cup (women’s 60), but was unable to successfully defend the title in the Maureen Connolly Cup (women’s 55) for the fourth consecutive year.

Wilder won the ITF World Championships in singles and doubles in 2012, 2007, 2006, and added an additional singles title in 2004 and a doubles title in 2005.
