About the Stars: They will open a three-game road trip tonight after wrapping up a five-game homestand Friday night with a 5-4 loss in overtime to the Minnesota Wild. Dallas went 3-1-1 on the homestand, but failed to earn its first four-game winning streak since taking five in a row from April 5-13, 2013. ... The Stars will be without forward Ryan Garbutt, who will be serving the second game of a two-game suspension for kneeing Edmonton’s Taylor Hall on Tuesday. ... Center Tyler Seguin has 18 goals to lead the NHL, after scoring his first against the Wild this season on Friday night. He was held without a point in two previous meetings with Minnesota this month. He has scored six goals in the past five games.
About the Avalanche: After a strong start last season, they find themselves in the basement of the Central Division of the Western Conference, two points behind the Stars. However, Colorado is 4-2 in its past six games, all of which have been decided by a single goal. … The Avs are led by center Nathan MacKinnon, with 17 points.
