The Dallas Cowboys and linebacker Justin Durant are talking about a reunion, a source confirmed. The team is in need of middle-linebacker help with Rolando McClain suspended for the first 10 games of the season.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo first reported the Cowboys’ interest in Durant.

Durant played two seasons in Dallas, starting 16 games, including at middle linebacker. He spent last season in Atlanta, but is a free agent after one season with the Falcons.

Durant’s health is a concern though.

The Falcons cut Durant in February, even though he was their second-leading tackler with 82 tackles in 13 games. But Durant had nagging injuries last season, just as he did during his two seasons in Dallas.

He missed six games in 2013 with hamstring and groin injuries and 10 games in 2014 with calf, elbow and eventually a torn right biceps that landed him on injured reserve.

He turns 31 in September.

The NFL announced McClain’s suspension last month for violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. He served a four-game suspension to start last season.

The Cowboys have Anthony Hitchens and Andrew Gachkar to play middle linebacker, but are keeping their options open.
