Jalen Ramsey’s confident ways has a Dallas Cowboys feel to it
Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey didn't hold back his feelings about where he'd like to end up during a pre-draft news conference on Wednesday in Chicago.
He has two dream scenarios -- his hometown Tennessee Titans and, yes, the Dallas Cowboys.
"It would be a dream situation, literally a dream come true," Ramsey said. "I really love the situation that I'm in right now. I'm glad I'm at the draft and whatever happens, I'll be happy."
Ramsey grew up a Cowboys fan, and would love to face Dez Bryant on a daily basis in practice. He very well may, too, if he is available when the Cowboys are on the clock with the fourth overall pick.
Ramsey could be gone by then, though, as the San Diego Chargers are reportedly heavily considering him at third overall.
But the Cowboys would love to have the ability to add Ramsey to their secondary. He's a versatile player who can play cornerback and safety, and would pair nicely with Byron Jones for years to come.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones raved about Ramsey during a news conference on Monday, and coach Jason Garrett also had positive things to say about Ramsey.
“It’s mutual. I grew up a Cowboys fan," Ramsey said. "It’s America’s Team. That’s what I grew up knowing. That’s what I grew up believing. There you have it.”
Asked what the Cowboys would be getting, Ramsey said: "I promise you you’re getting the best player in this year’s draft, who just so happened to go at 4 instead of 1. You’re going to get one of the hardest workers ever.
"I will not be outworked. I’m going to come in and respect the veterans and earn their respect from them by giving it my all every day, learning the playbook, doing the right things on and off the field. I’m going to give it my all, period.”
