Dallas Cowboys agree on four-year, $80 million extension with DT Osa Odighizuwa

On Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys agreed to terms on an extension with starting defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa that will keep him in Dallas for four years with an $80 million price tag, according to multiple sources. The decision came in before the league deadline to place a franchise tag on a player at 4 p.m. ET, which Odighizuwa was expected to get. Instead, a deal gets done that keeps him in Dallas through the 2028 season.

With the deal getting done before free agency, Odighizuwa left money on the table that he could have landed on the open market. Multiple teams were expected to show high interest in the UCLA product, but he instead gets locked in before the opening of free agency on March 12.

The deal is the first that the Cowboys have gotten done in the 2025 offseason, as they can now turn their attention toward a lucrative extension with defensive end Micah Parsons and engaging with other internal free agents such as defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, cornerback Jourdan Lewis and more.

Since being drafted in the third round out of UCLA in 2021, Odighizuwa has played in 67 games and has accounted for 13.5 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and 172 total tackles. His 60 total quarterback pressures in 2024 ranked third among all defensive tackles in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. He is ranked as the No. 7 available free agent in the 2025 offseason, according to NFL.com.
