-- The Cowboys went with defense early on Day 3 of the draft, opting to select Minnesota linebacker Damien Wilson in the fourth round.
Wilson led the Gophers in tackles last season, and had 10.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. He gives the Cowboys depth at a position where you can never have enough.
The Cowboys found a quality linebacker in the fourth round last season, as well, going with Anthony Hitchens (Iowa).
Linebacker is a position that needed to be addressed for the Cowboys.
Sean Lee is recovering well, but still missed all of last season with an ACL injury. Rolando McClain resurrected his career, but also dealt with injuries throughout the season and was limited late in the season with concussion-like symptoms.
Wilson was a presence for the Gophers, starting 12 of 13 games in each of the past two seasons.
The surprise might have been the Cowboys opting to pass on Boise State running back Jay Ajayi for a second consecutive round. Ajayi became the first running back in FBS history with 1,800 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards last year, but knee concerns have dropped his stock significantly.
