First, a sign was made, finished at 2 a.m. the day before a trip to see the Dallas Cowboys at training camp in Oxnard, Calif.
Kyler Mitchell’s sign said that if he caught a pass from Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, his stepfather would take him to his first Cowboys game.
The sign was raised. It was seen.
And Kyler caught a 25-yard pass from Prescott.
On Saturday night, at the storied Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, where a lot of dreams of an athletic variety have come true, the promised was kept.
WFAA.com has the story of how a sign and a cool, caring quarterback and a catch and a promise kept put Kyler at the Cowboys’ second game of the preseason against the Los Angeles Rams.
Kyler and his stepfather, Stanley Potts, sat in section 22H, Row 10 of the Los Angeles Coliseum — right behind the Dallas Cowboys bench.
The two brought another sign. This one was thanking Dak.
