Cowboys rule two DL out, list another as doubtful for Lions game

The Cowboys have ruled two defensive linemen out of Monday night’s game, list another as doubtful and a fourth as questionable.

Defensive tackle Cedric Thornton (ankle) and end DeMarcus Lawrence (back) did not practice this week and will not play against the Lions. Lawrence and Thornton will miss their second consecutive games.

Lawrence is not expected to return until the playoffs, and with nothing else to play for during the regular season, the Cowboys can afford to be cautious with Thornton as well.

Defensive end Tyrone Crawford (shoulder/hamstring) is doubtful, and defensive end Jack Crawford (foot) is questionable. Crawford was a full participant Saturday after being limited Thursday and Friday.

The Cowboys do get defensive end Randy Gregory back from suspension. Gregory missed the first 14 games for violations of the league’s substance abuse policy.

The Cowboys also have ruled out cornerback Morris Claiborne (groin) and linebacker Justin Durant (elbow).

Receiver Dez Bryant (back), guard Ron Leary (back), linebacker Sean Lee (knee), offensive tackle Tyron Smith (back/knee) and safety J.J. Wilcox (thigh) are questionable.

The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for their Dec. 28 game against the Detroit Lions. Star-Telegram Cowboys beat writers Charean Williams and Clarence Hill talk about the matchup.
