Ex-Cowboys Woodson, Phillips selected to Texas Sports Hall of Fame

Former Dallas Cowboys safety Darren Woodson and coach Wade Phillips, now a defensive coordinator with the Denver Broncos, head the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2017.

The others members of the class are Rita Buck-Crockett, Dave Elmendorf, Pat Henry, Flo Hyman (deceased), Eric Metcalf and Nastia Liukin.

Woodson was drafted in the second round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Cowboys. He spent his entire career with Dallas (1992-2004), earning three Super Bowl titles (1992, 1993, 1995) and three first-team All-Pro selections (1994, 1995, 1996). He was inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor on Nov. 1, 2015.

Phillips, the son of the late legendary Bum Phillips, has held multiple NFL positions, including head coaching stints with Denver, Buffalo and the Cowboys. Phillips won a Super Bowl 50 title with the Broncos as a defensive coordinator.

The 2017 class will be honored on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Waco Convention Center. A reception will be held at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame before the banquet at 4 p.m. Combination Reception/Banquet tickets are $200 each or $1,400 for a reserved table of eight.
