Although they were good, the statistics don’t tell the whole story when it comes to Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott, according to the Chicago Bears.

Prescott’s execution and poise is what caught the Bears attention the most in a 31-17 loss Sunday night at AT&T Stadium.

“He (Dak) has operated well. They do a good job of keeping it kind of tight. He’s got a good supporting cast. That’s a very talented offense, and through all the position groups,” Chicago coach John Fox said. “I thought he executed well.”

Prescott completed 19 of 24 passes for 248 yards and one touchdown. The touchdown pass, the first of his NFL career, was a 17-yarder to wide receiver Dez Bryant in the fourth quarter.

“He doesn’t make too many mistakes. He reads coverages well. He’s good for them,” defensive back Adrian Amos said. “I can’t really say in particular the one thing that makes him good. They beat us tonight. That is all I know.”

Prescott has thrown 99 consecutive passes to start his career without an interception.

“Getting the ball out of his hands. Making the right decisions. He was in stressful situations,” linebacker Jerrell Freeman said. “There was no panicking, dual threat. Get out and run. He’s a good quarterback.”

Prescott was the second rookie starting quarterback the Bears have played against this season. In Week 2, Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz passed for 190 yards and one touchdown in the Eagles’ 29-14 win.

“Much respect to the Dallas Cowboys. Absolutely. Quarterback hung in there, poised,” linebacker Willie Young said. “Teams have been doing a really good job with the young quarterbacks. And simplifying the game plans for them, the last two weeks for us, in particular.”
