NFL Insider: Charean Williams’ five cents

My five cents

1The only previous time Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers met was in 2006 when the Packers’ quarterback replaced Brett Favre in mop-up duty at the end of a 35-0 New England victory. Unless they meet in a Super Bowl, it seems likely, considering that Brady is 37, that this will mark their one and only meeting as starting quarterbacks.

2The Seahawks have Colin Kaepernick’s number. The 49ers quarterback is 1-4 against Seattle, completing 77 of 146 passes for 820 yards with three touchdowns and nine interceptions. When facing anybody other than Seattle, Kaepernick has completed 629 of 1,031 passes for 8,336 yards with 50 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He is 23-7 against teams other than the Seahawks.

3It appears Marquise Goodwin’s days in Buffalo are numbered. The former UT star, a third-round pick last year, has one reception for 42 yards this season. Injuries mostly have kept him off the field, but he was a healthy scratch last week, and the Bills since have claimed Marcus Thigpen off waivers as a returner.

4The Jaguars fired Tom Coughlin after the 2002 season. The Giants hired him the next season. Though this could be Coughlin’s final season in New York, he will leave with two Super Bowl rings. Jacksonville has one playoff win since he left.

5Charles Woodson, 38, signed a one-year, $4.3 million deal with the Raiders. He doesn’t plan on retirement in the off-season when he becomes a free agent again. Woodson will find work. He is playing as well as he did when he won the NFL’s defensive player of the year award in 2009. He earned AFC defensive player of the week honors last week.
