Texas Longhorn Kelvin Banks selected in first round of NFL Draft

The New Orleans Saints drafted Kelvin Banks Jr. out of Texas with the No. 9 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday.

It has been suggested that Banks could switch positions, with some saying projecting the rookie to start at guard instead of tackle, the position he played throughout his career at Texas.

What you should know about him: Banks attended Summer Creek High School before attending Texas.

Playing three seasons with the Longhorns, Banks saved his best for last, earning First Team All-SEC, an All-American selection and the Outland award, given to the most outstanding offensive lineman in the country, during the 2024 season.

How he fits on the Saints: The Saints struggled in pass protection at times last season, and Banks will provide an immediate upgrade, and according to NFL.com, Banks projects as a plus-starter for the future.
