DALLAS – While waiting on a flight from London to Los Angeles early Tuesday morning, Chandler Parsons decided to hop on Twitter and engage in an impromptu question-and-answer session with fans.
Those fans asked the five-year veteran everything from why he decided to opt-out of the final year of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks, and does he really think he deserves a maxed-out contract. One fan even asked Parsons, who had two surgeries on his right knee in less than 11 months, if he had any concerns about those injuries.
The Mavericks have targeted Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside and Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley as the top free agents they would like to sign. If the Mavericks are able to sign those two players, they won’t have enough money to sign Parsons,
One fan asked Parsons if he was still friends with Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan. Parsons responded: "Of course, friendships go beyond basketball.’’
Last summer, Parsons was the Mavericks’ primary recruiter who tried to woo Jordan away from the Clippers. Jordan gave the Mavericks a verbal commitment, but then later changed his mind and returned to the Clippers.
Also, someone name Tim Duncan – not the player from the San Antonio Spurs – asked Parsons if he could play him a game of one-on-one for some free gear.
"You would lose,’’ Parsons replied.
Here are some of the highlights from Parsons’ Q&A with the fans.
